How Wishes Are Granted
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho grants the wishes of children two and a half to eighteen years of age. A referral may be received from one of three sources: a medical professional (doctor, social worker or life specialist), a parent or guardian or the potential wish child his or her self.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho, in accordance with criteria used globally, requires the child to have been diagnosed at the time of referral with a life-threatening condition, i.e., a progressive, degenerative or malignant medical condition that has placed his or her life in jeporady as determined by his or her treating physician to qualify for receipt of a wish. Make-A-Wish Foundatino of Idaho grants the the wishes of ALL children referred to our ourganzation who are deemed medically eligible.
After physican approval of eligibility, a team of wish granting volunteers will be assigned to the wish child and his or her family. The team then schedules a time to visit with the child and family to determine the child's wish. The chapter's Board of Directors approves the wish and the wish team, in conjunction with Make-A-Wish Foundation staff, begin creating the magic!
